Recall: give saved screenshots a next step

A screenshot preserves a moment, but often loses the reason you saved it. Recall explores an iPhone experience that connects capture, context and a useful next action. Product in development; the screens below are prototypes with illustrative content.

The product problem

A saved receipt, travel idea and product comparison have different purposes. Putting them in the same photo collection makes capture easy but leaves the follow-up work to the user. The design question is how to make the reason for saving something visible when the person returns.

A structure built around returning

The prototype organizes the experience around Today, Library and Capture. Today gives the user a place to resume; Library provides access to saved material; Capture starts the journey. Threads connect related screenshots around a question or topic, so the experience can preserve context across more than one image.

One example journey

Imagine comparing two products. A person captures both screenshots, groups them into a thread and returns to the comparison later. The design should make the original material easy to inspect and keep any generated interpretation connected to its source. This is an illustrative journey, not a reported customer outcome.

The design trade-off

Adding organization at capture time can improve retrieval but also make saving feel like work. A useful prototype lets us examine both sides: how quickly someone can save, and how much context they need when returning. Clear empty states, corrections and a route back to the original screenshot matter as much as the first screen.

What this work demonstrates

The screens demonstrate product structure, interface design and the relationship between a saved item and a broader task. They do not establish production reliability, user adoption or commercial results. Recall remains in development; this walkthrough is not an App Store availability announcement.

Apply the approach to your product

Before building a mobile app, define the repeated journey: what starts it, what the person needs next and what a successful return looks like. We can help turn that journey into an early prototype and a focused development scope.
